Outpatient Competency Restoration Program

After statutory changes occurred in 2021 allowing the criminal courts to divert individuals with nonviolent misdemeanors for outpatient competency restoration, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) provided funding for the operation of outpatient restoration programs through the state. CDTC’s Outpatient Competency Restoration (OCR) program is a community-based program that provides competency education and training to defendants in an outpatient setting as an alternative for those who do not require hospitalization or residential level of care.

Defendants are referred by court order from a Judge of Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Van Wert, Williams, and Wood Counties, pursuant to the Ohio Revised Codes, and in accordance with the OhioMHAS Standards.
